Winter

Time really flies. My last post on this blog was on November 14th, and it already seems like ages ago. I've really enjoyed autumn, my favorite season of the year. Appeals to my melancholy side, you might think. In a way, yes. But really, autumn is so much more than that. It is nature bursting into a shout. A riot of colors between earth and sky. Late summer sun hot against my face, upturned against the glorious, bold brush strokes of leaves on a canvas of brilliant azure.

Then come the windy, overcast skies. Clouds scurrying across the sky. Leaves shivering on the half-bare branches. Rainy days with clumps of leaves huddling against the curb.

Winter never really seems like winter here. Our yellow daisy bush is blooming profusely...

So is the tree beside the house with its brilliant red berries covering its entire canopy.

We've gone biking several times to Lake Elizabeth. One damp autumn morning some weeks ago, I went jogging with the kids early Sunday morning. Here we are, stretching...

We even managed to cross the creek on some stepping stones. That was fun.
